Reports Lowest Average Fare on the Pensacola Gulf Coast for 1st Quarter 2014

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics has published the Average Domestic Airline Itinerary Fares By Origin City for the first quarter of 2014.  Pensacola International Airport, ranked 99th out of 439 airports across the nation in terms of the number of passengers served, compares favorably against the other airports within our service area with respect to average fares.  A comparison is as follows:

Airport                                  Airport Ranking                 Average Fare
Pensacola                                   99                                $454.53
Tallahassee                                 138                              $511.79
Panama City                               151                              $467.15
Gulfport-Biloxi                             152                              $468.56
Ft. Walton                                  153                              $517.93
Mobile                                       156                              $548.41

While the overall national average fare is slightly lower at $380.69, this difference can be attributed to the much larger population base served by other facilities and a greater number of low cost air carriers in those markets.  All in all, commercial airlines serving the Pensacola International Airport are pleased with Pensacola’s performance in the Gulf Coast region, and these positive performance reports help continue our air service efforts to bring in upgraded aircraft and more seat capacity.
