Matthew Coughlin serves as the Airport Director at Pensacola International Airport, bringing with him a distinguished 29-year career in the United States Navy as an aviator and commanding officer. He previously served as the Base Commanding Officer at Naval Air Station Whiting Field from 2011 to 2014.
Following his naval service, Mr. Coughlin served as the Assistant Director of Operations at Pensacola International Airport from 2014 to 2017 before taking on the role of Assistant County Administrator for Escambia County. In 2019, he returned to the airport as the Deputy Airport Director and assumed the position of Airport Director in June 2020.
Mr. Coughlin holds a master’s degree in National Resource Strategy from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, a master’s degree in Manpower Systems Analysis Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Western New England University. He is also a certified professional through the American Association of Airport Executives.
