The airport is continuing to see an increase in passengers exceeding the national averages. In the coming months, the airport expects for these numbers to continue to grow with the addition of four new flights with United and a brand new airline, Spirit airlines, Starting in the beginning of June with seven non stop destinations. “The expression on the faces of each traveler that comes through this airport says it all,” said Airport Director Matthew Coughlin. “For a brief moment, they are transported to a different reality of fantasy and they connect with the fun of the experience.”

Pensacon is normally slated for the month of February, but due to COVID restrictions and an out of an abundance of caution, it was rescheduled for May. As a result, the event will look a bit different than in years past. In addition to hand sanitizer stations, increased aisles space, and masks required to be worn, the outdoor venue, Poseidon’s Bay, will be expanded allowing more space for attendees to visit the various booths safely. Panels and other presentations will be subject to smaller capacity levels, with distanced seating on a first-come, first-served basis.
